Between 1977 and 1980, there was a restoration project. This was undertaken by Fred Aldsworth and John Goodwin, with the help of Manpower services, as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee celebrations. The photos on this page are of the Fort before the work started in 1977, then when it ended in 1980.
Unfortunately this work stopped due to lack of funding. It is the goal of the Future management volunteers to return the fort to this standard using as little funding as possible, in the hope that even through hard times the fort will never be neglected.
Members of the original restoration team are still in touch with Gary Baines and keep up to date with how the Friends of Shoreham Fort are doing with the current plans.
